While each of the individual Event pages (i.e. Training Events, Tower Events, Panel Events, etc.) detail the mechanics of how the event works, here is a high level overview of what to expect.
Please note that the details below regarding whether event units or spending are 'required' are focused on whether they are 'needed' for achieving either a high ranking or top item rewards. These are the opinions of players / editors, and not based off any direct information or guidance from Mobage / Silicon Studio.
With that said, new players, please be warned that in it's current state, Fantasica is essentially a pay-to-win app. It is absolutely possible to participate in all events with no event units and no spending, but it is often literally impossible to reach the highest ranking / rewards without spending significantly, and can require large time sinks to reach even the lower rewards.
Event types that are currently active and have ranking rewards associated with them.
