Event Info
Ghost in the Machine NEW
In an old lab, something stirs. Created to kill, a group of killing machines question the meaning of life - often with bloody results. You must enter event-exclusive Training stages and stop them.
During the event, normal Training stages will be replaced with event-exclusive Training stages. Defeat the Machines in Training to gain BT Pts. Earn BT Pts to secure a high rank. Higher ranks give rare prizes. You can also gain rewards by collecting Metal Hearts - an item that drops from Machines when you defeat them.
Also, Anne - of Soul Hunter fame, will be making a special appearance during the event. Defeat her to win an assortment of items!
- Once all of the Metal Heart rewards have been collected, all subsequent rewards will be determined at random.
- All rewards will be sent to your Inbox once rankings have been finalized.
Event Schedule
The Ghost in the Machine event will take place during the times listed below.
Start: December 31, 2013, post-maintenance End: January 10, 2014 at 2:00 pm PST/PDT
- Event schedule may be subject to change.
- Final Rank Rewards will be distributed only after the event has finished.
- The deadline to receive your Metal Heart rewards is January 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm PST/PDT.
Fighting the Machines NEW
You can deploy one of your own units, and the leader units of whatever players come to your assistance, to do battle with a Machine. You can increase the number of your own units that you can summon by using Windup Keys. Only one Windup Key can be used per battle and is lost on use.
Once you have initiated battle with a Machine, you will need to defeat it within a certain window of time. If you don't, it will flee. Furthermore, unit skills, such as poison and knockback, have no effect in Machine battles. You can rechallenge Machines that you have defeated or fled, but they will start at full health at the beginning of the next battle.
Finally, equip one these new Season 14 Step Up Pack units listed below to increase your chances of encountering rare Machines. The increase depends on the rarity of the unit.
Here are the units that offer bonuses during the event:
- Fuhrer, The Bloody General(7★)
- Dolo, Mechanical Assassin(6★)
- Maylee, Heavenly Beauty(6★)
- Corda, Sister of Rectitude(5★)
- Erasure, Knight of Apathy(5★)
- Latif the Pure Hearted(4★)
- Rethel, Knife Master(4★)
Metal Heart Reward Units:
- Only the units listed above will offer an increase to your chances to meet rarer Machines.
During the event, you will also have a slim chance of encountering the rare and elusive Chimera. Each time you meet the Chimera / Anne, their levels will range from 10 - 100 (determined at random.) Defeating them (or letting them go) will have no direct effect on their level the next time you meet them.
- Defeating the Chimera will award you with a large number of Metal Hearts and EXP, but you will not receive any Luna or BT Pts.
- Defeating Anne will award with you one of many possible items.
In addition to the above, you will also have a chance of triggering a special, Limited Boss encounter. Limited Bosses are unique in that when you encounter one, your allies will also receive Limited Bosses of their own.
- You can only have one Limited Boss active at any given time.
- Special units have no effect on Limited Boss encounter rates.
Calling for Help
Allies may choose to call you for help. There may also be times when you receive similar requests from non-allies. You will have two ways to help them - "Send Aid" will let them call your leader unit in battle and "Send Spanner" will send them 1 Mind Spanner. Helping another player will consume some of your Training Pts, but you will earn both BT Pts and Metal Hearts.
Tapping the "Request Assistance" button will send a request to your own allies, as well as some random non-allies, for help in the same fashion. Tapping the "Request Assistance" button will trigger Cooldown. You can wait for Cooldown to dissipate naturally, or use a Potion to reset it instantly.
Mind Spanners
When assisting others, you can choose to send them Mind Spanners if you have at least one in stock. Mind Spanners are bundled with some purchases (check Card Pack page for more details,) but can also be earned as a Metal Heart reward. Sending a Mind Spanner to another player will grant you a big boost in BT Pts and Metal Hearts. You can only send Mind Spanners to other players. You can NOT use them on yourself, nor can you trade them.
Spanners that have been sent from other players are automatically used in boss fights. A maximum of 5 spanners can be used in a single fight and all remaining spanners will carry over to your next fight. Spanners deal more damage than normal attacks, so having another player send them is a great way to tackle the more powerful bosses. Additionally, if you have one of the new Season 14 Step Up Pack / Metal Heart reward units (listed above), set as your leader, Mind Spanners sent to you by other players will deal additional damage.
Windup Keys
Using Windup Keys allows you to increase the number of units you can summon from your collection. Windup Keys are available from the shop for the price of 100 MobaCoins / Fanta Pts each. Once used, Windup Keys last for one battle.
- Take care, once you have used a Windup Key, the effect will end at the conclusion of your next battle regardless of whether you actually deploy an extra unit or not. *
- Any unused Windup Keys you have will be converted to Potions and sent to your Inbox during a future, undetermined Maintenance.
Metal Hearts
Metal Hearts can drop whenever you defeat a Machine in battle or send aid to another player. Collect enough Metal Hearts and you can unlock special, event-specific rewards like rare units. Unlock the first 10 Metal Heart rewards and you'll gain access to secret rewards. Collecting rewards does not require you to forfeit your Metal Hearts. You'll still retain all of your Metal Hearts even after you've received your reward.
- You can not trade Metal Hearts.
- To collect your rewards, go to the Metal Hearts Rewards page and tap the Receive button. Your rewards will be sent to your Inbox.
Event-exclusive Titles can be found on your Profile page under Edit Title → Achievements.
BT Pts
Defeat Machines in battle and aid others to gain BT Pts. You can also gain a large number of BT Pts when you send a Mind Spanner to another player. Once you have encountered a Machine, you can challenge it multiple times until it is defeated or flees. Its HP will not regenerate.
Fever Time
Occasionally, you will enter a special state known as "Fever Time." As you complete Training, you have a set chance to enter a special state called "Fever Time." Fever Time will end after a set amount of time passes. Defeat a boss during Fever Time to receive an increased amount of Metal Hearts and BT Pts.
- Fever Time has no effect on the amount of Metal Hearts / BT Pts received from sending aid to an ally.
- Fever Time will not award bonus Metal Hearts / BT Pts for any boss fights initiated before Fever Time occurs.
- Fever Time will not award bonus Metal Hearts / BT Pts for any bosses defeated after Fever Time ends, regardless of whether they were encountered during Fever Time or not.
- Fever Time will have no effect on Metal Hearts / BT Pts received from Limited Bosses.
Ranking
Ranking will be determined by your total number of BT Pts. You can view your rank and the ranks of the top ten players via the Ranking page. Rankings will be consistent throughout both halves of the event.
Higher ranks offer greater rewards, so get to work, soldier! As it may take some time for Rankings to update, there may be some discrepancy between what is shown on the Ranking page and the actual, final player rankings.
- Changes to player rankings may take up to 30 minutes to update.
